Hodgins Art Auctions Ltd. holds the auction record for many
of Canada's finest artists including Ernest Lindner at $ 35,200,
Alan Collier at $ 19,800, H. G. Glyde at $ 16,000 and
Illingworth Kerr at $ 21,850. Their June 2002 auction saw an
American painting (Martin Johnson Heade) sell for $ 935,000
after a local area gentleman brought the painting in to see
"if it had any value"!
Hodgins Art Auctions Ltd. has been responsible for several
high profile artists' estate auctions including the Estate of
Janet Mitchell and more recently, the Estate of Stanford Perrott,
Head of the Alberta College of Art and Design. Likewise, Hodgins
Art Auctions Ltd. has been the auction house of choice for fine
art marketing by the elite of Calgary's corporate community. An
auction for EnCana in March of 2003 raised $ 600,000 for their
corporate wellness program. A sale in January of 2005 saw the
collections of FortisAlberta Inc. and Dow Chemical Canada Inc.
offered with strong prices overall including $ 121,000 for a
Alfred Joseph Casson of the Group of Seven fame that had been an
original commission by Dow from the artist in the early 1960's.
