MacDonald.  George also taught art at the Northern Vocational School in Toronto from 1932-38, and at the Franz Johnston Summer School in Georgian Bay from 1932-40.  He was married to a Canadian painter named Frances-Anne Johnston, daughter of Group of Seven member Franz Johnston.

George was made president of the Royal Canadian Academy from 1960-64.  He is represented in the I.B.M. Collection of Contemporary Art, and the R.C.A. Diploma Collection in the National Gallery of Canada.  He exhibited at the Royal Canadian Academy from 1932-66, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from 1946-67.

George's special knowledge of historical subjects contributed greatly to his stature as an illustrator, his landscapes, cityscapes and figurative paintings offer a mixture of both Realism and Impressionism.
