Benjamin-Eugène
Fichel was a French portrait and genre painter. He
entered L’ École des Beaux-Arts in September 1841 and
during that time he formed a close working relationship
with Delaroche and Drolling. In 1857 and 1869 he was
awarded several medals and in 1870 he was made a
Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. His colourful
portrait and costume compositions were exhibited at the
Paris Salon between 1849 and 1895.
