Hope,
born in Montreal, studied under Arine Moret and Luc
Olivier Merson in Paris.
He traveled and painted in the Forest of
Fontainebleu in France, The Netherlands, Italy, Bath in
England, Scotland and Maine.
He was an official war artist (1914-1918) and
remained active in Montreal (1893-1931) except for his
summers in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.
Working in oil and watercolour, he painted
landscape and marinescapes.
