Orestes Nicholas (Rick)
Grandmaison was born in Calgary, Alberta and is the son
of Nicholas de Grandmaison. He studied at the
Banff School of Fine Arts under Frederick Taylor; at the
Chelsea School, London, under Pickforth and Hodgson; and
at the Winnipeg School of Art. He travelled and
painted in Spain, England and Portugal (1957), and
England and France (1963). He is known for his
rural landscapes, especially ranches and homesteads that
evoke memories of the Old West, and harbour scenes.
His work is included in the collections of the Glenbow
Museum, the Alberta Art Foundation and the Edmonton Art
Gallery. He died of Leukemia in 1985. |
