The procedures for selling at Hodgins Art Auctions Ltd. are quite simple.

You begin by contacting our offices for a pre-sale estimate. You will receive a contract to sign, setting forth terms and fees for the services that we will provide. You then can either bring your property to Hodgins yourself, arrange with a shipper to deliver it or have Hodgins organize the shipping on your behalf. Properties usually arrive throughout the year as there are cataloguing deadlines that come into effect for specific sales.

Every item consigned to Hodgins Art Auctions Ltd. is carefully examined, researched, described, and assigned a pre-sale estimate in the auction catalogue - all at no cost to you. Hodgins will send you a property schedule detailing the auction estimate, the date of the auction sale, and a suggested reserve price.

The reserve is the minimum price below which your property will not be sold. It is confidential, and is determined by you in consultation with our staff.

After the auction, you will receive a complete inventory listing the prices at which your items have sold. Along with this inventory will be a cheque from our company to you. The amount of this cheque will be for sold prices less our standard commissions. This is normally accomplished within two weeks of the sale date.

To receive a free auction estimate of your artwork, we invite you to send a photograph and complete details of your artwork to our offices. A reply can be expected, by either mail or telephone call, usually within one week of receipt.
