“A solid, durable wine, the 1978 Batailley is quite attractive, with an exotic, moderately intense bouquet of cassis, anise, and spicy components. Full bodied, with surprisingly soft, supple fruit, round, ripe tannins, and good length, this is a very good effort from Batailley.”

Château Monbousquet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1998
Saint-Emilion, Red Bordeaux Blend
750 ml / France / 13.5% ABV
ST 90-91 | WA 94 | WS 91
“The 1998 Monbousquet is medium to deep garnet-brick in color with wonderful dried mulberries, kirsch and prune preserves notions with hints of cigar box, Chinese five spice and potpourri plus a waft of liquid licorice. Medium-bodied, it's very spicy with a wonderful core of plum and cherry preserves and beautifully plush tannins, finishing very long and spicy. Delicious now and should age a further 10 to 15+ years!”
